    Hi, Nicolas. Thanks for this great video and perfect explanation. It helped me to take decision and now I am using Livoltek All-In-One system for couple weeks as backup system (separate circuit with critical loads is connected to EPS), without solar. In general it is perfect, only there are some questions I can't find answers. Livoltek support is not enough developed in Ukraine to help :(. Maybe you can give some suggestions. Beer from me, of course :) 1. What is the reason of difference between Load and Battery when discharging? In my case it is around 200-300 w regardless of power (Battery 0,229 kw => Load 0,04 kw; Battery 0,605 kw => Load 0,291 kw). When charging I see also some difference but much less in % (Grid 1,539 kw => Battery 1,359 kw). I understand about efficiency and losses, but 200-300 w (up to 60% in some cases) look too much. 2. When I use self-define mode, very often invertor doesn't charge battery during set hours for charging. But sometimes it is charing. I can't understand why ann what is happening... Appreciate if you can comment.

    • @NicolasRaimo
      @NicolasRaimo 13 часов назад

      1). Could be to do with distance from Ct to inverter you can change it to a meter and Ct setup like mine for long distance.. 2) self define can take 24 hours to settle it self into settings

    I have a similar solar and battery solution pending install. Why would you not dump almost all of your excess battery in the late evening and then recharge your battery to full during the off peak period. My typical usage would leave the battery at 70 - 80% around 9pm so I could dump all but 10% before 11:30pm and therefore make another profit on a further 7kwh per day. In my case with EON, I would make an additional £69.30 per month (6.9p import rate vs 40p export rate x 7kwh per day)

    Expensive! I am surprised you have issues with the edges where your patio is, it looks like you just need to "mow" the first 6 inches or so as it looks like it is the same level as the lawn? Once you have used it for a year or so the lawn will gradually get higher as you will be returning all the grass cut directly so the patio edges should be no problem. I love my Robot mower, guide wire and all, once the wire is buried your dog will not be able to dig it up!

    The issue with smart water meters is if the system is hacked a thief could monitor usage well enough to predict when someone isn't home or on vacation. It makes a break-in easier for them to time. One couple in Streetsboro Ohio just started a moratorium on city wide installs so all the issues can be looked at. Not everything that can be "smart" is safe for the home owner. It would be great in a perfect world but there are too many people looking at the illegal usage of new technologies.

This mower is a serious contender for the specs its got. 3 of these (biggest ones) are less than 10k, the similar husqvarna is 4.5k each +vat and cuts less area. Considering the cheapest john deere diesel mower is around 20k nowadays these things are getting cheap! The time these could save is worth it to me alone, this is a future of grass cutting we should all be looking at. The resources wasted in grass cutting are staggering. I drive a 2023 Tesla Model 3 Long Range and live in a southern NSW regional city where many believed EV’s weren’t a practical option. I charge off solar energy at home, so local driving costs me nothing. There are no regular service charges, and the car is a dream to drive. We drove 1,550 km (approx 964 miles) inland to South Australia and back. Charged off solar at home, charged off solar at the relatives we visited. One fast charging stop midway on outward and return trips, total charging cost was AU$61. Great video rebutting the delusional lies fossil fuel producers and anti-EV petrol-heads tell about electric vehicles.

    You can boil gas, so it will evaporate before it gets hot enough for a flashpoint to occur. Gas needs spark or compression to ignite, not a hot muffler.

      most cars don't leak petrol and even when that happens there is a very slim chance that the leak occurs over a source of ignition because the fuel lines are at the bottom of the car and the cars do not have spark producing devices unde the hood (usually). The petrol will simply evaporate and even when it catches fire (usually due to an electrical malfunction) the fire is in the front and the petrol tank is in the back. The ice cars catch fire usually when they are being driven not standing but the ev's catch fire whenever they want. There are thousands of cells in the battery, any of them might start a fire through thermal runaway due to overheating (as in old batteries with high internal resistance charged/discharged with high current) or due to fabrication defects.

    Sorry but you are wrong about the fire issue. There have been numerous fire videos showing large ev fires. Specifically the Tesla in question burnt very quickly and there has been numerous documented. You are also wrong about explosion issue. It does depend on the containment of the gases but they do explode. Petrol burns but it does not explode. There is a very good video from an expert who advises fire brigades on how to fight EV fires who is giving a lecture on this subject. EVs are about as likely to catch fire as ICE vehicles and that is very low in terms of probability. And yes I have been in an ICE car that caught fire and no it did not explode. As you highlighted the battery cell tends to be underneath the car and typically the fire exits at the side so making it hard to get out of the car with an EV fire. Spot on about the charging from the grid. Recently the UK has be down to about 16% from gas turbines so going great guns on going green. I am pro EVs but I am also aware of their shortcomings and issues. They are not a replacement for ICE cars for every use case but they are for 90% at least. Personally I’d like to see a city car around the size of a mk3 golf that dosnt look pig ugly and has a good turning circle.

      You are correct. Petrol is the safest form of power for cars, as it never burn or explode. The sad fact is the car to catch fire is the Hybrid, a car where you have the complexity of an engine to maintain and a NMC battery. They have the highest rate of car fires. EV batteries do burn, but the rate per 100,000 is far lower that Hybrids or petrol cars.

    What's missing about the first point is that even where there is fossil fuel input to the grid, a power station burns those fossil fuels way more efficiently than an internal combustion engine. They get to run at the absolute ideal conditions, so far more of the energy in the fuel is transferred to electricity. And then there's the fact that any emissions (very very limited given the ability to clean the emissions of a fixed plant) are emitted away from the centres of towns etc. so it makes the air in the cities and towns much cleaner and safer.

      not really, the efficiency of a thermal engine depends very much on the temperature difference. There are diesel engines with 40-45% efficiency and even 50% (those are not in production yet though). The same efficiency is for the fixed generators (they are given more due to the so called cogeneration of hot water which might be useful or not but it is not electrical energy). From the power plant to the car there are losses between 15 to 25% (there is at least 10% loss only to charge the battery slowly, on the supercharger there is more). So, the assumption that all the energy produced by the power plant will somehow be found in the ev's battery is just a myth. In fact it is way more efficient to burn the fuel in the engine avoiding all the losses implied by the transformation of the energy from chemical to electrical, then from low voltage to high voltage then again to low voltage then to DC then again into chemical energy in the battery then again electrical energy as dc and then through an inverter again into 3 phase ac for the motor (only the conversion from dc to ac and the electric motor produce a typical loss of 15%).

      @@orionbetelgeuse1937 a practical application of a diesel engine in a passenger car is highly unlikely to exceed 30% efficiency over the full range of it's operating conditions. It simply doesn't run at it's optimum operating condition most of the time it's in use. A combined cycle gas power plant should operate at in excess of 60% efficiency. Sure, there are transmission losses, but the grid is actually extremely efficient. And an EV is pretty good at converting electrical energy to kinetic energy. Especially when you add in regenerative braking to the equation. Added to that, it is much easier to implement extremely effective exhaust filtration and cleaning systems to stationary power plants, whereas weight considerations limit the effectiveness of exhaust cleaning on ice vehicles. Especially diesel engines which are inherently quite prone to particulate emissions. And finally, and perhaps most relevant of all to the health of our towns and cities, an EV has zero carbon dioxide emissions, or exhaust particulate emissions, at the point of use. The gas power plants tend to be sited in areas that are outside of residential areas, reducing the amount of particulates and harmful gases released in areas where a lot of people live.

      @@TheMatthooks the efficiency of a car is quite simple to estimate now because of the ev's. We know that a medium sized car driven at 90km/h needs about 17kWh / 100km. Almost any vw or ford or toyota owner of a mid sized car like golf, even passat, focus and so on made in the last 10-12 years can tell you that at 90km/h the car needs about 3.5-3.9 liters of diesel /100km. The energy stored in the fuel is 35-39kWh. The efficiency is 17/37=0.46 . that's 46% not 30% . The efficiency of those power plants reach about 60% for the turbine not overall, the generation of the electricity loses about 15% so we can say about 50% output as electricity. The transformation and transport losses are very high but you choose to ignore them. The energy has to be transformed from low voltage to high voltage and again low voltage at the charger (overall that is around 10% loss in countries with good grid), then the energy has to be converted from ac to dc again about 5% loss, the charging of the battery leads to losses from 10% (low speed) to about 24% (supercharger) proven by tests made by the ADAC, the discharge of the battery is again with losses from 5% for a new battery at low speed in warm weather to about 50% for an old battery at high speed, cold weather. The transformation of the electrical energy in mechanical energy is done typically with 85% efficiency as stated by tesla. So if we multiply them 0.5x0.9x0.95x0.83 (an average use) x0.9x0.85=0.27 so, from the fuel to the mechanical energy we can see that the overall efficiency is about the same as an old gasoline car. For some scenarios the efficiency is better but for others is worse, for instance using the car in cold climate will waste energy due to the increased internal resistance and the need to heat the car which in an ice is done by the waste energy.
